You may search the on-line library by:
starting here!
The Location Works category system (explained below) is here broken down into different types of locations, for example domestic houses, or interiors. From any page you can go back up the ladder to find other locations of a similar type. So you may see a location described as
locations > mansions & stately homes > palaces > reference 2002.

using the categories
Location Works uses a two-digit code for categorising locations, first devised when we started up in 1985.
This code has been updated and is now The Location Source, a cross-library referencing system which is now being
adopted around the UK and Europe to provide a unified search system: one web system to negotiate rather than five hundred!
using the alphabetic index
The alphabetic index helps you identify the category code,
or you may examine the categories directly: either way you will be
taken to the relevant category page with sample shots of locations.
Up to ten locations are shown on a single category page, however there may be links to
further pages within the same category.
The images on the category page are thumbnails: one shot of that location which is
considered representative. Usually, there will be many more pictures of the same location:
if so, there will be a link saying "More pictures..." which will
take you to a location page.
If appropriate, there will be images from the same location appearing in different sections of the library: the bedroom may appear in
the bedrooms category (15), the kitchen in the kitchens category (16). If you are needing a bedroom and a kitchen, follow the links
and have a look at the location page to see all the pictures of that location.
At the top of the category page you may see a drop-down menu offering Special collections.... These are sub-divisions
within the main category which may help you find your location more quickly.
using the search engine
The search engine allows you to enter keywords. The keywords always include the geographical area, so you could search for
Suffolk to see locations in Suffolk. However our geography keywords are fuzzy - there's no point in entering "Highgate"
because we don't give that information away; enter "North London" instead.
If the search engine finds few locations that match your keywords, it will broaden
the search to try and help. For example, if there are no saunas in West London
it will show you saunas in other parts of London. Or if there isn't a large workshop, it'll
see if it can offer you any workshop.
When the search engine broadens the search like this, it will let you know, also you may notice that it may no longer
be showing the best thumbnails.
The keywords include qualities, so you might search for wooden floor London, or coast Scotland.
Finally, each location is given a unique reference number, which corresponds to the bar-code number assigned to each of our location sheets
here in London. If we have given you a reference number, simply type it in to the search field to go straight to that location.
making use of a location
Contact us, by telephone or e-mail, to discuss your location requirements.
Provided you qualify as a bona-fide location professional, we will establish your available budget,
the availability of your chosen locations, and, if appropriate, set up a recce.
