Abbey Road
Reference 17497
North London

Pedestrian crossing in north London which was immortalised by the Beatles when they used it for the cover of their 1969 album Abbey Road.

These types of pedestrian crossing are known as "zebra crossings" because of the black and white stripes.

Since 1969, this crossing has acquired zig-zag lines either side and in the centre, to indicate no-stopping zones on either side.

Notwithstanding that Abbey Road is a busy suburban road, the traffic here is frequently stopped by Beatles fans recreating the album cover! Nearby is Abbey Road Studios where many Beatles albums were recorded.
