These types of pedestrian crossing are known as "zebra crossings"
because of the black and white stripes.
Since 1969, this crossing has acquired zig-zag lines either side and in
the centre, to indicate no-stopping zones on either side.
Notwithstanding that Abbey Road is a busy suburban road, the traffic
here is frequently stopped by Beatles fans recreating the album cover!
Nearby is Abbey Road Studios where many Beatles albums were
recorded.
