register with usHaving taken your location images, the next step is to send them to us. You could email a few to ask our opinion, otherwise send us a CD-ROM. Other image types are considerably larger, for no appreciable increase in quality. As an example, an image as a TIFF is likely to be about five times the size of the same image as a JPEG. Your images will end up on our web site as 640 × 480 pixels, or 720 × 480 pixels, depending on the format of your camera, but please send them larger, at least 1024 × 768 (it's pixels that matter, not DPI).
You are not stuck strictly with these dimensions: maybe a particular shot would benefit
from being a long wide "pan".
| Avoid making any "pan" more than three times wider than it is tall. 
| JPEG images use an extremely efficient compression technique, and do not need to be subsequently compressed again using another package, such as ZIP, Stuffit or BinHEX - recompressing them like this is likely to increase the file size. We prefer simple, straightforward JPEGs, not embedded in other packages such as MS Word, Photoshop or Powerpoint. If you are providing captions, put them in a separate text or Word document on the disc. We do receive a lot of CD-ROMs, and obviously take good care of them, but an unmarked CD-ROM does stand a chance of becoming separated from its paperwork. If you're emailing us images, and sending separate paperwork, ensure that the email and paper are marked with something unique. If you can't think of anything else, stick the date and time on both! This will avoid your images getting mixed up (you'd be amazed how many Manor Farms there are in the UK!). Our registration form (available as a PDF document: click here) enables you to tell us about your property, but, very importantly, it gives us permission to place your images into the web library. Please sign it and enclose it with your images, or you may fax it to 020 7287 2855.

Location Works charges nothing to represent a location nor for putting your pictures on our web site.
That's because our website is our shop window: we don't charge our
customers to look at the goods on display, nor do we charge our suppliers (the location
owners) for supplying the goods!
Another reason that we do not charge is because it is not possible for us to offer
any guarantees: the presence of your images in our library cannot
guarantee that Hollywood will come knocking. The location business is too fickle for
that, and our advice is not to register with any company that tells you otherwise.
| Not all of the locations we receive do end up in our web location library - for a start, it takes time to prepare the images and upload them. However, even if your pictures do not end up on the website, our clients will be given every opportunity to consider your property. | |||||||||
